About San Remo

San Remo is world famous and glamourous resort on the Ligurian Sea coast near France border (25 km). There was a time when San Remo was favourite vacation spot of Russian aristocracy, and not only in the summer, but also in winter, because all good weather conditions are observed here all year round. San Remo - the fourth on size a city of Liguria after Genoa, Specia, Savona

Basic information

In the city there is a Temple of Christ of the Savior which is very similar to the Moscow temple with the same name, Russian emigrants have a hand in its construction. Not far the Temple the Casino has settled down. It has been opened in 1905. In the ancient historical part of the city of Pina (la Pigna), as well as in Ventimili, it is very interesting to walk on small ancient streets. Some constructions are from the medieval period.
It also the sea resort attractive to those who is interested in archeology.

Nature

San Remo is a city of flowers, probably, in any other place of the world you will not see so many flowers. There are lot of parks and avenues in the city. That else characterises San Remo is colour and light: tropical blossoming palm trees and hotels gardens, flower baazars, avenue of tsarina Maria Aleksandrovna, are filled by light. Suburb of San Remo is an infinity greenhouses with various flowers. When in Vienna start Christmas concerts on New Year's Eve all flowers, especially carnations, are delivered from San Remo.

Infrastructure

Cheerful and celebratory atmosphere reigns in a city almost all year long. The city never sleeps, the night life boils at restaurants, bars, discos and, certainly, in casinos! The city is completely devoted to tourists.
San Remo is a basic point of excursions to nearby Principality of Monaco and Azure Coast of France.
Under a city there is Villa Ganburi in which fine gardens 3000 kinds of the plants are cultivated testifying the exclusive softness of climate.
In the internal part of western Riviera, in the mountains surrounding it, there are caves, for example Grotte di Toirano – one of the most extensive caves in Italy. Located in Loano vicinities, between Savona and Empire, Grotte di Toirano consists of group of caves, the longest one is 1170 metres.
